How Martecana Use Digital Marketing to Help Sherry Hu Elected as a City Council
The Background
Sherry Hu, a Dublin city resident, decided that she wanted to give back and help the community that she has lived in for over a decade. This year Sherry Hu decided to run for City Council. This is not an easy task, as nine people were running, but only two seats were available. Sherry needed digital marketing and social media help, so she reached out to us.
Dublin is a city located at Silicon Valley, California, with a population of 65K residents.

The social media campaign Martecana team launched was a huge success with a reduced budget and increased efficiency.
Client Needs
Our client, Sherry Hu, needed some marketing assistance for her run at City Council. She needed help getting her name and message out to the citizens who had a vote. The customers’ primary goal was to win a seat on the City Council, and she needed help with advertising and effectively getting her message across. She wanted people on social media to know about her background, the types of experiences she has had that would make her successful at this position, what she wants to do for the community, and how she will provide for the community. She needed to reach as many people as possible, so it was vital for us to find ways to reach the largest audience possible. Lastly, this case was a bit time-sensitive. The election was on November 3rd, so we needed to get her messages out quickly yet effectively.
The Martecana Solution
Our primary goal was to help Sherry win a seat on City Council by promoting her ideas through social media. We proposed various types of social media posts to Sherry because we knew they could help her win. For example, Sherry wanted the public to know about her past and what she plans on doing for the community, so that is what we did. We created various posts that highlighted her qualifications, why she wanted to serve the community, and how she would do it. We proposed that we use multiple social media platforms so we can have a wider audience. This is also something that we did posting on Facebook and LinkedIn. Doing this helped us spread Sherry’s message to thousands of people.
As stated above, all of the social media posts were on Facebook and LinkedIn. Many of the campaign ads were quite successful, and it definitely helped Sherry beat out her competition. On Facebook, we had five primary ads. These ads either highlighted Sherry’s goals for Dublin County or her background and why she is fit for this position. All of the ads were successful because they all got over 150,000 impressions. The most successful post from Facebook had over 175,000 impressions and over 8,000 link clicks. Throughout one month, one of the posts reached over 33,000 people and had over 8,000 engage with the post. Furthermore, one of the Facebook Video Ads had over 6,000 views from October 6th to November 2nd.
The video that we posted on Sherry’s LinkedIn was also very successful. The video received 25,010 views, 37,478 impressions, and 176 clicks. These numbers are exceptional, and it allowed us to reach a new audience.

Final Result
Overall, the social media posting and advertising that we provided for Sherry Hu was very successful. All of our posts either hit or exceeded our expectations, and we are glad that we were able to impact her campaign positively. We believe that our marketing strategy played a large role in helping Sherry win a seat on City Council.
